Pomp, Pageantry As Ex-Governors Amosun, Osoba, Others Grace Iya Suna Of Egbaland’s Daughter’s Engagement
ABEOKUTA – For the families of Dr. (Mrs.) Yemi Kolapo, the Iya Suna of Egbaland and retired General Moshood Jimoh from Erin-Ile in Kwara State, Friday, 22nd August, 2025 will forever remain indelible in their hearts as they engaged their daughter and son Faisah Kolapo and Hakeem Jimoh, in a highly anticipated engagement ceremony which took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Marquee in Abeokuta.
The colourful Owambe grand ceremony was a perfect blend of celebration and rich Yoruba culture embedded with a deep religious background.
The event, which was a testament to the enduring power of love and tradition, was attended by a galaxy of dignitaries, including two former Governors of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba and Ibikunle Amosun, who were seen beaming with joy as they mingled with other guests.
The former Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sharafa Ishola, was also in attendance, adding to the star-studded guests list.
Other notable attendees included Chief Mrs. Bola Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who brought her characteristic warmth and elegance to the event.
The Convener of the Alternative Movement, Segun Showunmi, was also present, highlighting the widespread interest in the occasion.
The ceremony was marked by prayers and good wishes for the couple, with both families offering heartfelt advice to the young lovers. They were advised to make God the pillar of their home, and to build a strong foundation for their future together.

The engagement ceremony marked a new beginning in the lives of Hakeem Jimoh and Faisah Kolapo, and the Iya Suna’s family expressed gratitude to the guests for their presence and expressed anticipation to see them and others at the Nikkah scheduled for the main Marquee at the OOPL Complex on Saturday, August 23rd 2025.
