Fulfill Your Special Adviser Appointment, Ogun Persons With Disabilities Beg Gov. Abiodun

ABEOKUTA – Following the victory of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun at the Supreme Court, the State chapter of Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JONAPWD), has urged Abiodun to fulfil all promises, he made to them.
They said the victory at the apex Court, showed that God has destined him to rule the State for the second time.
The State Chairman of the Association, Dr. Michael Ebohor while speaking at strategic meeting for 2024 held at their Secretariat, Abeokuta, the state capital, urged the Governor to ensure full implementation of ” Ogun State Disability Law” which was signed to law by his predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
He also charged Abiodun on good governance as well as inclusion of people with disabilities in his government.
Ebohor said people with disabilities are gifted, brilliant and have what it takes to support his administration.
He said, ” We want to congratulate you ( Governor Abiodun) on your victory at supreme Court. It shows that God has destined you to have the second term without any restriction with the voice of the Supreme Court.
Now, good governance is what we demand for, good government is what we ask for, most especially for us persons with disabilities in Ogun state.
We want to use this occasion to congratulate you and also remind you of the promise of good governance and inclusion of persons with disabilities in your government in appointing capacity. We want to use this occasion to remind you of your promise to mobility for this Association and effective slots for persons with disabilities in all employment”.
On the law, he said “We want to use this occasion to implore both private and public organizations to make their offices in compliance to provision of this act by providing wheel chair, sign language interpreter at hospitals, schools and various places in order to bridge communication gap”.
He said “And to this event, we want to use this occasion to remind the government and the good people of Ogun state that with the law prohibiting discrimination against persons with disabilities in Nigeria having passed Five years ago, we demand the provision of the law in Ogun state, such as making public offices and public institutions accessible for persons with disabilities. In terms of Education, Health and Employment.
This act has been signed in December 27, 2017 but till this moment the law has not seen the light of the day, but we are not discourage. We are trying to re-energize ourselves to form a collaboration with the Committee for the Defense of Human Right (CDHR)”.
He therefore pledged their 100 percent loyalty to Governor Abiodun led administration, wishing his government many blessings and prosperities.
Also, the National Vice-President of CDHR, Comr. Yinka Folarin, revealed that despite the signing of the bill into law, there are so many dramas around it.
He assured the Association of CDHR’s support, saying that both bodies will ensure that the needful is done about its implementation.
Folarin said that both associations are are going to engage the government and ask them questions.
Also, one of the members of the Association, Mr. Adebesin Abacha enjoined the members to speak in one voice when requesting for anything from government so that the government will take the Association serious.
