Why Sanwo-Olu Should Be Re-elected, By Afenifere Leader

LAGOS: Leader of pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has called on Lagos residents to come out en-masse on Saturday for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He said he believed that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President would benefit Lagos State more if the state has an APC Governor to complement whatever the President has for the state.

Pa Fasoranti, who spoke in a statement signed by his Administrative Secretary, Chief Oladiran Adesua, said Lagos, as the economic nerve centre of the country and by extension of Yorubaland, deserved the very best.

The Afenifere leader noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu has been through the mill and crucible of politics, business, and public administration as well as occupying various positions in government since 1999 thereby garnering requisite experience that has been displayed in the last four years.

According to him: “I want to use this opportunity to recognise and appreciate the achievements of the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is seeking re-election for a second term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“These projects when fully operational will employ over a million Nigerians (mostly youths) thereby substantially reducing unemployment in the country. The response of the Lagos State government to the COVID-19 pandemic is also worthy of note and commendable. I am convinced that these giant strides should be sustained in the city with the third largest economy in Africa.”

Pa Fasoranti stated that Afenifere was not in support of certain individuals threatening the corporate existence of the country because their preferred candidates lost in the February 25th Presidential election.

He said the group remained committed to the unity of Nigeria as a truly federal political entity.

He also tasked Tinubu to focus on issues of security and economy.
