You Can’t Ignore Obasanjo In Nigeria Politics – Segun Showunmi

ABEOKUTA – The Peoples Democratic Party Chieftain and Spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Candidate, Otunba Segun Showunmi has said that the former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo cannot be ignored in Nigeria politics.

Highlighting the relevance of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Ibikunle Amosun in the politics of Egbaland, he said that any politician in Egbaland that ignores the former President will have himself or herself to blame.

He made this statement on Tuesday at his country home while receiving the Labour Party House of Representatives aspirant in the 2023 elections, Hon. Tolulope Phillips.

Showunmi maintained that, the foresight and knowledge of international politics of the former president cannot be undermines.

The PDP stalwart while receiving Tolulope Phillips gave an historical relevance of the Phillips family to the development of Egbaland

Tolulope Phillips had joined PDP during the last election as a result of the legal battle in the Labour Party, which impeded his chances to clinching the party’s ticket.

Otunba Showunmi, however, expressed confidence in the leadership acumen of Tolulope Phillips, stressing that if given the opportunity to represent the people, he will do well because of his gift of oration and brilliance.

He assured the young politician that the political terrain of Abeokuta South although it has its peculiarity but can be well navigated if there is proper guidance and mentorship.

Showunmi in his leadership counsel admonished his guest to avoid political mistake which will cost him his aspiration now or in the future.

He cautioned Mr. Tolulope Phillips on needless spendings as political sycophants are only interested money politics.

Responding, Mr. Tolulope Phillips thanked Otunba Segun Showunmi for providing leadership support for him at this critical time of his political career, believing that with God and Hon. Segun Showunmi by his side his political boat will not capsize in the political murky water of Abeokuta South local government.
