Milestone @60: Otunba Dehinde Boye Bows Out Of OPIC After 34 Exemplary Years
ABEOKUTA — The morning sun of August 19, 1966, marked the dawn of a remarkable journey as Chief Maclean Adewunmi Boye and Mrs. Esther Oluremi Boye welcomed their son, Dehinde Kehinde Boye, into the vibrant neighborhood of Yaba, Lagos. Raised with strong foundational values, his early years were characterized by adaptability, taking him through Sissie Obasa Nursery School, Methodist Primary School in Oshodi, and several other institutions as his parents’ work demanded.
His academic path progressed through the historic corridors of Anglican Grammar School and Methodist High School in Ifo, where he earned his Ordinary Level Certificate in 1983.
Undeterred by rigorous academic demands, he advanced to Federal Government College, Odogbolu, for his Advanced Level studies, laying a formidable groundwork for a lifetime dedicated to intellectual growth and discipline.
Equipped with a sharp mind for strategy, he gained admission to the University of Lagos, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1989. Anticipating the digital revolution that would transform modern governance, he further sharpened his analytical edge by pursuing postgraduate studies in Computer Science at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
The defining chapter of his professional life commenced on November 11, 1992, when he joined the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) as a Computer Programmer-in-Training.
Demonstrating exceptional technical acumen, he pioneered the Corporation’s newly established Computer Section, taking full charge as its head by 1993 to usher the agency into the digital era.
Technical brilliance, however, was only the beginning, as his innate gift for strategic communication soon beckoned him toward broader horizons.
After augmenting his expertise through the Public Relations Society of America, the Lagos Business School, and the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, he transitioned into corporate diplomacy as Head of Public Relations in 2015.
His meteoric rise continued in 2017 with his appointment as Director of Business Development, later elevating the agency’s commercial presence as Director of Marketing and Business Development.
Through every promotion, he remained anchored by unwavering integrity, driving strategic growth initiatives that reshaped Ogun State’s real estate and investment landscape.
Beyond the boardroom, Otunba Boye’s career stood as a masterclass in relational leadership, mentorship, and institutional loyalty.
Recognized as a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration, his 34-year journey from a mid-level tech pioneer to OPIC’s most senior Director earned him the profound respect of colleagues and industry leaders nationwide.
At home, his public devotion was anchored by the unwavering love and partnership of his wife, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, with whom he built a vibrant family. Together, they expertly navigated the demands of a high-profile public service career while keeping faith, family, and humility at the absolute core of their domestic life.
As August 2026 marks both his diamond 60th birthday and his official retirement from public service, Otunba Dehinde Kehinde Boye leaves behind an indelible blueprint of excellence.
His transformation into OPIC’s senior-most Director stands as a triumphant testament to three decades of selfless sacrifice and a legacy destined to inspire generations to come.
