Ogun 2027: PDP Will Not Rob Peter To Pay Paul, Orekoya, Slams APC Over ‘Fraudulent’ Project Transfers

ABEOKUTA — The Media aide of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, Afolabi Orekoya has assured the Ogun State electorate that all PDP’s candidates, would run a transparent government and would not resort to “robbing Peter to pay Paul” to create a false illusion of performance.
The declaration was made by Afolabi Orekoya, during Monday edition of “Gbangbadekun” a current affairs programme on Yewa Frontier 102.9F.M, a community radio station based in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government.
Orekoya took a direct swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC), explicitly accusing the APC Gubernatorial Candidate of fraudulently diverting projects meant for other states to Ogun State.
He noted that despite serving 20 years in Lagos without accomplishing a fraction of what is claimed in Ogun, projects have been moved from other states in a manner he described as fraudulent, promising that PDP representatives will serve with integrity and commit to not being “padding Senators.”
Orekoya expressed confidence in the PDP’s preparation for upcoming political contests, noting that the party is fully mobilized across the state following massive turnout and enthusiasm during the campaign flag-off for the Ogun East Senatorial District—covering three Federal Constituencies —with plans to move next to Ogun Central.
He dismissed claims of mass defections to the APC, describing the ruling party as full of deceit and clarifying that individuals like Asiwaju Odumosu who had contested in APC’s Primaries for House Representatives and Ladi Owodunni have long been aligned with the APC.
Meanwhile, he highlighted that the PDP continues to attract key figures, including Engr. Adeola Sosanwo, who resigned as the Chief Executive Officer from the Ogun State Security Trust Fund to join the PDP.
Assessing the state of governance in Ogun state, Orekoya painted a grim picture of paralyzed local administration and substandard infrastructure under the current leadership.
He pointed out that not a single local government is functioning optimally due to a lack of deserved autonomy.
Furthermore, he dismissed Governor Dapo Abiodun’s infrastructural record, citing rehabilitated and dualized roads—such as the Area Command/Sapade and Airport roads—as highly substandard.
He also lamented the suffering of state civil servants, assuring them that Ladi Adebutu has promised an immediate end to unjust, unremitted salary deductions.
Contrasting the ruling party’s record with the PDP’s leadership, Orekoya emphasized Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu’s decade-long philanthropic impact across the state, including the personal distribution of over 700 units of 500KVA transformers to combat power deficits.
In his closing remarks, the media aide urged the people of Ogun State to remain vigilant, asserting that without federal might, the ruling party has no gain from the genuine will of the people.
He called on Ogun voters to draw inspiration from elections in Osun State by turning out to vote their conscience and standing firmly by their votes to ensure their choice is protected.
