You’re An Impostor, Suspended From APC, Party’s National Secretary Roasts Hunye
ABEOKUTA – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned Mr. Abayomi Hunye over his recent declaration as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election, describing him as an “impostor” and a suspended member of the party.
The APC, in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru, said Hunye’s claim was “false, unauthorized and mischievous,” insisting that he lacked the authority to speak or act on behalf of the party.
According to the party, Hunye was suspended from the APC on April 7, 2026, following a petition from his ward, Tube Ward, in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The party said the suspension was initiated by the ward executives, ratified by the Ipokia Local Government Area and subsequently approved by the Ogun State Working Committee before being communicated to the party’s National Headquarters.
It listed “nefarious dealings” and alleged “anti-party activities” as the reasons for the suspension, accusing Hunye of engaging in activities allegedly injurious to the image of the party and actions aimed at creating disaffection and division among its members.
“Consequently, he lacks the legal and moral standing to represent the APC in any capacity,” the statement said.
The party further reaffirmed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as its duly nominated governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election.
It said Adeola emerged from a validly conducted APC primary election, with Balogun Kudirat Abiodun as his running mate.
The APC also claimed that the names and particulars of Adeola and his running mate had been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, adding that the commission had issued acknowledgement slips confirming them as the party’s recognised flag bearers for the Ogun governorship election scheduled for January 2027.
The party warned individuals, groups and organisations against conducting political activities with Hunye under the name of the APC, saying anyone who does so would be acting at their own risk.
It said its legal team had been directed to commence contempt proceedings and lodge a formal complaint with relevant security agencies over what it described as “gross misrepresentation and impersonation.”
The APC also urged media organisations and members of the public to disregard publications, interviews and documents emanating from Hunye concerning the party, while cautioning media houses against providing platforms for what it described as his false claims.
The party called on its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, urging them to ignore provocations capable of disrupting peace in Ogun State.
It advised members of the public seeking clarification or official information on the party’s position to contact the APC National Secretariat through the Office of the National Secretary.
