ABEOKUTA – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, has intensified its crackdown on illicit drug activities with targeted raids on identified drug black spots across Abeokuta, the state capital.
The operations are being conducted under Operation Restore Order, a nationwide coordinated enforcement initiative launched by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd).
The Ogun Command said the operation was designed to identify and dismantle drug black spots, disrupt illicit drug networks and reclaim public spaces being used for drug trafficking and abuse.
According to the command, in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics (ASN) Haris Musa, its operatives have carried out targeted raids on several locations in Abeokuta identified as drug black spots, including Mayas, Maiami in Panseke, Onion Market in Eleweran, MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto Park, and WAPCO in Lafenwa.
The command said the coordinated operations were part of broader efforts to prevent illicit drug activities from gaining a foothold in communities across Ogun State.
It reaffirmed its commitment to its statutory mandate of protecting residents and communities from the harmful effects of drug trafficking and abuse.
The command also said it would sustain enforcement operations aimed at dismantling criminal drug networks and making public spaces safer for residents.
