ABEOKUTA – As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary, a member of the House of Representatives, Gboyega Isiaka, has called for renewed unity and commitment to the nation’s founding ideals, stressing that the country’s brightest future lies ahead.
Isiaka, who represents Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, said in a statement issued on Wednesday that the milestone offers Nigerians both a reason for celebration and an opportunity for sober reflection.
According to him, the anniversary should remind citizens of the vision of the nation’s founding fathers who fought for justice, equity, and opportunity.
The lawmaker, who also chairs the House Committe on National Planning and Economic Development, noted that despite economic and social challenges, the country has demonstrated resilience in preserving its sovereignty and carrying forward its promise.
He expressed confidence that the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Federal Government is beginning to crystallize into tangible outcomes that can uplift citizens across the nation.
“On this sixty-fifth anniversary of our independence, I convey warm congratulations to every citizen of our great nation, with heartfelt greetings to the good people of Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency.
“At sixty-five, Nigeria is at a decisive turning point. This is the moment to rise together as one people bound by a shared destiny. With clarity of purpose and unity of spirit, we can build a future defined by vision, strengthened through sacrifice, and secured by our collective resolve.
“Our greatest days are not behind us; they lie ahead in the Nigeria we choose to build.”
Turning attention to his home state, Isiaka commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what he described as “remarkable steps” under the Building Our Future Together agenda. He argued that Ogun State’s history of enterprise and cultural vitality places it at the frontier of national progress.
“The task ahead is to consolidate these gains, broaden reforms, and extend opportunities so that the state becomes not only the Gateway but also a dynamic model and catalyst for the prosperous Nigeria we seek,” he said.
Isiaka, however, issued a firm appeal for unity of spirit and clarity of purpose, reiterating his commitment to purposeful representation and national progress.
