ABEOKUTA – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State has moved to reconcile members and close ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders pledging support for the party’s candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
The resolution was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, at Onimeko Hall, Imeko.
The meeting followed issues arising from the party’s primaries, with stakeholders agreeing to put their various differences aside, protect the collective interest of the party and work together towards a stronger and more cohesive APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
They also resolved to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure, with ward leaders tasked with reaching out to aggrieved and absent members, rebuilding relationships and bringing them back into the fold.
Isiaka urged party leaders and members to put their various differences aside and place the collective interest of the APC above individual interests, stressing the need for unity and cooperation ahead of the elections.
He further pledged his commitment to supporting the party’s candidates and driving campaign efforts across the local government, while urging stakeholders to work collectively towards securing victory for the APC at all levels.
Earlier, the APC chairman in Imeko-Afon, Hon. Ramon Adebolu, urged members to refrain from actions and public statements capable of deepening divisions within the party.
In an 11-point communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and signed by Adebolu, the stakeholders resolved to establish ward-level reconciliation committees to engage aggrieved and absent members.
The stakeholders also directed party leaders to prioritise the collective interest of the APC, intensify grassroots mobilisation and address issues arising from the primaries and other internal matters through dialogue and established party mechanisms rather than public confrontations.
They further resolved to strengthen cooperation among party leaders and stakeholders, promote inclusiveness and ensure that individual and general interests are harmonised in the interest of the party’s success in the 2027 elections.
The communiqué reaffirmed the stakeholders’ commitment to mobilising votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Character Commissioner, Hon. Kayode Oladele; Ogun State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka; member representing Imeko-Afon State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Jemili Akingbade; and the Executive Chairman of Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Hon. Theophilus Olorode, former member House of Representatives, Dr. Dele Ogunsiji, Chief Mary Ogunjobi among others.
