Gov. Abiodun’s Aide, Doregos Denies Viral APC Senatorial Endorsement, Alleges Impersonation Plot

ABEOKUTA – A Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Housing, Tobi Doregos has disowned a viral social media post that falsely congratulated certain individuals as senatorial candidates of the APC in the state.

The publication had seen Doregos congratulating the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele and a former governor, Ibikunle Amosun as the consensus senatorial candidates for the three senatorial districts in the state.

The post, which stirred unease within Ogun State’s political circles, was traced to fifth columnists that allegedly used someone known to Doregos to carry out the hatchet job.

The message was widely condemned as misleading, especially since the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not yet announced consensus candidates.

Doregos, in a statement issued in Abeokuta clarified that he never authorized or signed any such congratulatory message.

He said the impersonator behind the publication, deliberately wanted to embarrass him and destabilize the political atmosphere.

“I never directed anyone to make posts about senatorial candidates. Our party has a process, and I am too informed to make such a reckless commitment,” Doregos stated.

Doregos who spoke through his lawyer, Ijeoma S. Ani-Onyekuru, has petitioned the Police Area Command in Abeokuta, accusing the impersonator of malicious misrepresentation under Ogun State’s cybercrime laws.

He urged the public to disregard the fake publication, reaffirming his loyalty to the government and his commitment to avoid actions that could embarrass the administration or fuel political tension.
