NANS, NAOSS Exonerate Gov. Abiodun’s Aide, Adeyemi Azeez From Cultist Attack Allegation

ABEOKUTA – Following the alleged assault and cult activities against the Special Assistant to the Ogun state Governor on Students Matter, Adeyemi Azeez by a former NANS Chairman in the state, Falola Ahmed, the leadership of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) and National Association of Ogun State students have absolved the governor’s aide from masterminding attacks on some students in Abeokuta.

Falola otherwise known as Stainless had on Monday accused Adeyemi Azeez of assaulting and threatening to kill him.

Stainless alleged that, Adeyemi led thugs suspected to be cultists to attack them while he was holding a meeting with some student leaders on the forthcoming election of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in the State.

But a statement jointly signed by Damilola Kehinde Simeon, Chairman, NANS JCC/OGUN axis and the Comrade Ogunrombi Oluwagbemileke, National President of NAOSS, described the allegations as untrue.

According to the statement, Azeez has nothing to do with what happened on Sunday 7th of May, 2023 as he is no longer occupying any elective position in students associations.

They accused Falola of impersonating the Senate NANS leadership in an illegitimate meeting in Abeokuta.

The student leaders explained further that, they only made a move to stop him from gathering when Stainless attacked them.

“We have only made the move to stop them from gathering when Stainless and his cronies result to violent means. It is not surprising that the hunter who unluckily became the prey in his own gimmicks is crying foul and wrongly alleging the SA on Students Matters of plotting his fake attack. Why has Falola Ahmed Stainless refused to mention categorically what he was doing in Abeokuta at the said hour of the fake attack on him? For memory sake, the public should be reminded of the kind of element Stainless was during his active days as a student leader.

“He was at a time a factional chairman of NANS Ogun JCC. He was once a factional Coordinator of NANS Zone D. He was at a time an unrecognized Vice President of NANS. He is known for sponsoring and instigating illegitimate faction in Ogun State. He is notorious for constituting illegal gathering and usurping authority. His case at the Police Divisional Headquarters, Igbeba, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, in 2017 when he sponsored a factional leadership of NANS against Balogun Olawale Movement led Ogun NANS JCC is still fresh. At that time, like he has just accused Adeyemi Azeez of attacking him, he falsefully alleged the then S.A on Students Matter to the former Governor, Comr Olusegun Clement, of attacking him rather than admit that the legitimate Chairman, Com Balogun Olawale, had ordered for his arrest.

“On the account of allegations of cultist attack on him, this is nothing but another calculated attempt to blackmail the Students’ Constituency in the state. What occurred yesterday was purely a faceoff between actively legitimate student leaders and Falola Ahmed led impersonation team. He was not attacked by cultists.

“On the contrary, we were attacked and had to defend ourselves having gone to their midst to question their rights to organize themselves and impersonate our offices. We know for a fact that if there is any individual that should be arrested, investigated and charged for cultism it should be Falola Ahmed Stainless for he is a well known Alora member. We are challenging him to openly put himself up for investigation on this.

“In addition, we are by this statement demanding that the Nigerian Police Force investigate him duly on this ground. On the allegations of the S.A not having a degree certificate, we are not his mouthpiece and would not defend that. Falola Ahmed should take his allegations further through legal means. We hereby call on the public to disregard the cooked up stories by Falola Ahmed Stainless.”
