Ogun West Siege Of Underdevelopment Is Broken With Senator Yayi’s Intervention – Anglican Bishop

ABEOKUTA – The Diocesan Bishop, Diocese of Yewa, Anglican Communion, Revd. Michael Adebayo Oluwarohunbi, PhD, has described the Chairman, Senate Appropriation Committee, Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi as evidence of broken siege in Ogun West Senatorial district through his intervention projects.

Speaking on Sunday at the third session of the 12th synod, Diocese of Yewa held at Rev. Fry Memorial Anglican Church, Ishaga-Orile, Rev. Oluwarohunbi said the coming of Senator Yayi into the political fray of Ogun State was to liberate the people of Yewa from the shackles of political siege and marginalization, which has hampered development of the zone.

The clergy posited that the senator has set a new standard of political representation, assuring that a new era will emerge with Yayi come 2027.

Quoting from the Holy scripture, 2 Chronicle 20 verse 15 – 25, Rev. Oluwarohunbi with the theme: “The Siege is Broken,” the man of God noted that Senator Yayi is evidence of answered prayer and broken curse on Yewaland.

He charged Senator Yayi to seek refuge in God when the political storm arises, praying that God will put confusion in the camp of oppositions working against the progress of Yewaland.

He saluted the lawmaker for his great impact, uncommon innovation and development,
and astute leadership, the kind Ogun West has never witnessed before.

He added that, in just two years, under the visionary reform-driven leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and the “Building Our Future Together” mantra of Prince Dapo Abiodun, Senator Yayi has redefined what it means to serve the people from groundbreaking infrastructure across all sectors to life-changing empowerment programmes to lift the people out of poverty.

He said, “Your strides are not just developmental but transformatioral. You have restored the hope of our people that indeed, you are God sent to liberate us from our past state of neglect and underdevelopment.

“Your bold, people-first approach bas rekindled the hopes of many, raised the bar of logislative excellence, and positioned Ogun West and Yewaland as a shining model of purposeful and quality representation and leadership.

“Yayi is an evidence of broken siege through his intervention projects in Yewaland. The coming of Senator Yayi into the political space of Ogun West and Ogun State at large may be viewed as many of those things that happened in politics, but you will understand that it is an evidence of answered prayer and curse broken by his uncommon human touch to Yewaland.”

Responding, Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), the chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriations stated that the siege of underdevelopment and marginalization that had enveloped Yewa- Awori in Ogun West Senatorial District since the creation of Ogun State is over with his representation and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Delivering an address at the Third Session of the Twelfth Synod of the Diocese of Yewa, The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) with the theme: “ The Siege is Broken” at Rev Fry Memorial Anglican Church, Ishaga- Orile in Ogun State, the senator said that since his coming back home from Lagos two years ago under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and his complementary delivery of democracy dividends with Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun’s APC administration, the people of Yewaland and all parts of Ogun West Senatorial district has witnessed unprecedented infrastructural and socio-economic development.

Senator Adeola popularly called Yayi by his admirers said that about 5 years ago, precisely on Friday June 11, 2021, when he was still a senator representing Lagos State, he was similarly invited to chair the Second Session of the Eleventh Synod with the theme: “..But They that Wait Upon The Lord” at Ilaro-Yewa adding that waiting on the Lord by the faithful does pay off in the end as is the case with the people of Ogun West in Ogun State.

“At the time of that Synod in Ilaro, I was the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District in Lagos State. It was a trying time that I made efforts to come back home to render service for my people in Yewaland, Ogun West and indeed, Ogun State. Today, by the special grace of God Almighty and the votes of the people, I am the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District in Ogun State. We waited on the Lord and he answered us in his own time. The waiting is over and in the last two years we can sing “Come and See What the Lord has done” in Yewaland and Ogun West.” he stated.

Reflecting on the scriptural text that informed the theme of the Synod taken from 2 Chronicles 20:15-25, Senator Adeola said that just as the Lord fought for the people of Israel and Judah against a host of powerful and hostile enemies, Almighty God has been fighting for him, the people of Yewaland and Ogun West since he became their senator two years ago adding that everyone can attest to the tremendous development that the senatorial district and elsewhere has witnessed in the areas of infrastructural development particularly construction of roads, school buildings, healthcare centres, ICT Centres, ultra-modern markets, town halls and Police Stations, electricity and solar lights among others.

“Our mega empowerment programmes for our constituents also looks like spoils collected by the Israelites after God destroyed their enemies with reference to 2 Chronicles 20: 25. As it is, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu is yielding positive results and so far, prevented the economic collapse that faced the nation two years ago. The bold and innovative policies of the President like the removal of oil subsidy, floating of exchange rates, student loan, consumer credit and massive infrastructural development, signing the minimum wage law among others, have positioned the nation’s economy on the path of steady and sustainable growth. And to the Glory of God, we are part of the direct beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Agenda on Infrastructure” he stated.

While urging the clergy to continue to pray for our nation, our armed forces and all leaders as they seek solutions to the problem of insurgency, kidnappings and other criminal vices assailing our society, Senator Adeola commended the governor of the state Prince Abiodun for his giant strides in bringing development to our people in Ogun State in general and Yewaland in particular adding that “Our people are witnesses to your rehabilitation of structures in the educational and health sectors, the completed housing projects and more importantly road construction and rehabilitation with references to Ilashe-Koko- Alari Road in Ipokia, Imasayi-Ayetoro Road and ongoing work on Ilaro-Owode Road, Afa Bridge, Ipokia, Oke Ola Road, Imeko, internal road of State Hospital, Ilaro, Renovation of State Hospital, Ilaro and the Atan-Lusada-Agbara Road among others”

Earlier in his charge at the Synod, the Bishop of Yewa Diocese, The Rt. Reverend Michael Oluwarohunbi said that Senator Adeola infrastructural interventions and empowerment programmes has helped in breaking the siege of Yewaland adding that the advent of Yayi in Ogun State is God’s answer to the prayers of the people that had changed the narratives.

“There is infrastructural revolution in Yewaland courtesy of Yayi. He has brought the first federal university through his representation to Ogun West, a sign of broken siege” the Bishop stated.
